April vacation: Vacation went well they took 3 trips. They went to Plymouth Plantation, Battlegrounds arcade and the movies. They had about 50-60 children per day.
Agenda for Summer Program: Nothing has changed. Things are still the same
    New Business:
Financials: Shannon said as of today they have a profit of 46696.88 they do need to account for benefits for the remainder of the fiscal year and invoices. It looks more like 15000 for a profit after all has been taken out.
Summer program update: Lisa said the summer program trips have been booked and have purchased performers for Spring Lake for the month of July. The program for current families starts on June 19th.  New families start on June 23rd. We have roughly 136 children registered and still accepting applications. On average we have 105-106 and some days are lower and can still accommodate late registrations.
Over April vacation there was an incident where a parent called and complained about their child seeing pornography on the BEC computers not knowing what the child saw they came in Monday morning and realized it was a provocative picture and not pornography and the picture was of Nikki Manaj. Our laptops they purchased for the children are on the schools network and not on BEC network. What the kids see up in the school setting they can see on BEC computers. There is no way to block a google image. The parent was a little upset and Kelly addressed it to Mike Woods and met with the Col. of police and the mom ended up calling the police involved the sex crimes and got a little out of hand. The parent removed the child from the program. The police and everyone looked at the computers from the district and the computers are up to date. Alyssa asked about a waiver to sign for situations like this and now the computers and sites are limited to what children can look up and view on their computers.
Fall tuition fees: Shannon said they were discussing the fall registration which starts June 1st. Our current fees are 8$ for morning and 13$for afternoon tuition we haven’t raised the morning tuition in at least 3 years. They would like to increase it 1$ to help offset some of the expenses. Judy asked how many hours in the morning and Shannon said it was for 2 hours. They aren’t going to touch the afternoon tuition at this time. Judy asked how many kids in the morning session and Shannon said 70 between the 2 sites. Alyssa said she thinks 8$ is cheap and people really need the morning care. Shannon said she doesn’t want to see a situation like summer tuition and the parents took the increase for summer with no problems. We talked about how high the prices are for the new teen center in Chepachet was and you get nothing with the cost. They aren’t looking to make money just looking to maintain the level of care they have offered up until now. Alyssa made a motion to raise the rates for the program tuition only.
Judy would like us to get some new members due to Laura and Dawn having children in the program. Due to voting issues it could become an issue. It was addressed to her how the voting goes with having parents on the board who vote.
Employee Pay Rate: Judy wanted a discussion about this. The minimum wage is 8$ per hour. How do the people working for you now feel about new people coming in making the same as the people who have been there for years. Do we give them any type of raise after a certain amount of time. Kelly said that her and Mike sat down and made staff pay around the position they hold. Lead staff start out and 10.50 and are maxed out at 12.50. The regular staff make 9.00 to 10.00 per hour. They normally do yearly reviews and if Kelly wants to give a raise outside that time frame she has to go to Mike and if the town doesn’t get a raise no one gets a raise. Spring Lake starts at 10.00 and goes up to life guards making 16.00 per hour. They don’t want to lose people that they have had on staff for so many years and are reliable but can’t pay them what they are worth. Alyssa asked about incentives if we can’t give them raises. There are many programs that they can use to better themselves and get college credits. They work in the morning for 2 hours and 3 hours in the afternoon.  Kelly said they can talk about adjusting the pay rates and present it to Mike. If they do raise minimum wage to 10.00 per hour they can still accommodate the rates. Judy said BEC does great things with their kids and some day cares do nothing with their kids and don’t deserve the money they are making. Alyssa said if you work in daycare it is a low paying field unless you’re a teacher. The more education you have behind you the better you do with pay. Judy wants to make sure when something is addressed to her that she presents it to the proper board so when she is asked she can say she presented it to the right people.
Motion made to skip July meeting and meet in August and September. Laura 1st motion and Dawn second the motion.
